MARINA: Wearing of life vests mandatory
Excerpt
The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has reminded operators of small vessels to strictly require passengers to wear life vests following the capsizing of three boats in the Guimaras Strait where at least 31 people died. In an advisory, Marina said all passengers of vessels with open deckhouses shall be required to wear life jackets during the entire voyage. The notice exempts floating restaurants and vessels used in river ferries where life jackets shall be placed in accessible locations.
