President Rodrigo Duterte said he will place Boracay Island in Aklan province under land reform after the six-month rehabilitation works are finished. In a press conference on April 9, 2018, in Davao City before flying to China for a conference, Duterte cited a law that describes the famed island-resort as a forest reserve and agricultural land.
