Six coastal towns in the Second District of La Union province have received the first 36 fiberglass-reinforced plastic boats from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources upon the request of Rep. Sandra Y. Eriguel. The 36 boats delivered as of August 2018 represent the first batch of the 220 fiberglass boats requested by Eriguel for marginal fisherfolk of La Union’s Second District. Fiberglass boats are considered better and safer fishing boats than typical wooden units because of their sturdy materials that are designed to survive rough seas.en
