The African catfish (Clarias gariepinus, C. lareza) made Zarraga famous because of the proliferation of African catfish farmers in that area. Now that a Provincial Freshwater Fisheries Development Program is being implemented by the Iloilo Provincial Government, the Aquaculture Department of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the Pototan Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC) are proposing a Native Catfish Industry Development for the municipality of Pototan. | en |
