Siason and Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Dr. Arnold Naldoza, attended in full force the First Field Day on Fishery Technologies of the Western Visayas Technology promotion Center held on Oct. 15 at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Station at Brgy. Punta Pulao, Dumangas, Iloilo. The whole-day event started with the observation of the harvest of lapu-lapu (grouper) and site visitation of ponds, cages, breeding tanks, and other hatchery facilities. It was attended by fishfarmers, coop representatives, local government officials, and entrepreneurs who were treated to lectures regarding technologies which include the following: Pen Culture of Mud Crab in Mangroves and Grouper Culture in Brackish Water Ponds, by Dan Baliao, Head of the Administrative Division of Seafdec-AQD; Grouper Hatchery by Marietta Duray, Head, Nursery Section of SEAFDEC-AQD; and Market Potentials of Grouper and Crabs by Roberto Sanson, owner of Sanson Farms. | en |
