    Excerpt
Feeding pond-cultured Asian catfish (Clarias macrocephalus), the native, "hito" or "pantat" in Ilonggo with a formulated diet containing 34% crude protein (CP) is profitable. This was revealed in a recently concluded study conducted by researchers Eliseo Coniza, Mae Catacutan and Josefa Tan-Fermin of the Iloilo-based Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center's aquaculture department (Seafdec/AQD). The native catfish has been observed to disappear in Iloilo waters and efforts to increase its population are being pursued in the Seafdec/AQD's research program.
