One of southern Iloilo's last mangrove stands if gone, courtesy of a "developer" and a set of public officials in stupor. And a scientist at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (Seafdec) based in Tigbauan tow, raised an alarm because the loss of the five-year old mangroves in Anhawan, Oton is a big blow to southern Iloilo which used to teem with fishes. Sothern Iloilo comprising the towns of Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Igbaras, Tubungan, Miag-ao and San Joaquin, has zero mangroves which are a crucial "marine eco-system."en
