    Excerpt
Efforts to revive the once lucrative but long-gone capiz shell industry in Iloilo are on. Spearheading the move are local government units (LGUs) of Iloilo's first congressional district belonging to the Panay Gulf Development Program (PGDP) and the government-hosted, Tigbauan, Iloilo-based Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD). AQD, recently headed by Dr. Rolando R. Platon, is one of the four departments of SEAFDEC, a treaty organization founded in 1967 to promote fisheries development in Southeast Asia.
