    The priapium fish can only be found in Lake Mainit, the fourth largest lake in the Philippines, located in Surigao del Norte province. It is known to be benthopelagic, which means that it can live and feed at any depth. This species is assessed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature because it is only found at a limited range.
