    Excerpt
The fishing season imposed by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in waters of the Visayas and Mindanao seas has increased the tuna catch in this island and boosted the region's fishing industry. Sablayan municipal agricultural officer Lina Taal De Leon said the five-month fishing ban from November to March has benefited local fisherfolk who have noted an increased in the fish catch within the 15-kilometer municipal waters. "The reason why there is an increase in the fish harvest, specifically tuna, is, there is also increase in food for them to feed on. There are now plenty of sardines and mackerel and other small fishes as a result of the fishing ban" De Leon said.
