With the devastation from recent storms, typhoons and heavy monsoon rains, climate change has become a great concern in the country. Flooding and landslides have prompted both government and private sector to search for solutions to avert or mitigate similar heavy damage in the future. One company, Vetiver Farms, Inc., believes that vetiver grass can provide a solution. The plant which originated in India and has been grown in the Philippines since the 1930s, is said to be capable of preventing soil erosion that causes flooding. " the unique rooting system of the vetiver grass binds loose soil to prevent surface erosion.
