The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) strengthens its efforts to reduce poverty among the fishermen by establishing at least 252 community fish-landing centers (CFLCs) nationwide. Alma Saavedra, BFAR 7 information officer, said the bureau has already identified the CFLCs in strategic areas in the Visayas during their training social preparation for CFLC program with Fisheries Livelihood Development Technicians (FLDTs) from Region 6, 7 and 8. Saavedra, however, said the bureau is waiting for the municipalities to donate the land for the project site.
