The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) is hoping to sign an agreement with the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 6 this month for the identification of strategic agriculture and fisheries development zones (SAFDZ) in Western Visayas. MGB regional director Leo Van Juguan said the agreement will pave the way for the conduct of a joint validation necessary for the execution of Executive Order (EO) 79. The EO redefines areas that should be closed to mining applications.
