    Excerpt
For the first time, scientists of a government-hosted Southeast Asian center in Iloilo have succeeded in spawning the economically important top shell. The feat was achieved by Rolando Gapasin, Dr. Clarissa Marte, and Dr. Wehresti Gallardo of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) in Tigbauan town. Following the breakthrough, SEAFDEC AQD has begun producing hatchery-reared top shells for its stock enhancement program.
