    The Aklan Sanguniang Panlalawigan (SP) has placed three towns in the eastern part of Aklan under state of calamity on Wednesday due to red tide infestation."Prior to the declaration, the affected towns of Batan, Altavas and New Washington had already declared state of calamities in their respective areas Some 2,000 fishermen were been displaced," said Odon Bandiola, SP secretary. As of the Dec. 5 laboratory results, shellfishes collected at Altavas, Batan and New Washington in Batan Bay are still positive for "paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit," according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
