local.seafdecaqd.extractSEAFDEC Fishworld is really a world to see! Located at Seafdec (Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center) in Tigbauan, Iloilo, it is the only one of its kind in the country. It is a museum-aquarium-ecopark built last year aimed to promote informal education for responsible aquaculture and fisheries. Its broader aim is environment protection and sustainable development. Its aquaculture has 18 aquaria of fishes (food and decorative), crustaceans and mollusks. In another hall is a collection of 75 species of fishes and 150 species of crustaceans - all preserved in alcohol. In still another hall are dry species of mollusks, corals, echoderms, sponges, and seaweeds. There is also a shell collection of around 500 species of gastropodes and 150 bivalves. There is a50-seat library room convertible to seminar, workshop, lecture or video room.en
