Western Visayas has a share of P821,898,073 to implement its various projects on agriculture and fisheries under the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AF-MA). Department of Agriculture Regional Director Ricardo Oblena said that AFMA funded projects include Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF), DA-LGU Counterparting Projects and Farm to Market Roads Development Programs for Calendar Year: 1996-2002. Oblena presented the accomplishments of the department for 2001 to Senator Ramon Magsaysay Jr. and Congressman alfredo Maranon, chairmen of the Committee on Agriculture of the Senate and Lower House, respectively in a press conference on agriculture and fisheries organization on September 10 at SEAFDEC in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
