Bay-ad (Placuna sp.), a delectable bivalve that disappeared from the shoals of northern Iloilo lately made a comeback by its own, that is, with people doing nothing other that practicing some rudiments of coastal resource management (CRM) like establishing artificial corals and planting and restoring mangroves. It reappeared in the shoals of Jaro and La Paz districts, this city, and the towns of Leganes, Dumangas, Barotac Nuevo, and Banate, according to sources at the provincial agriculture office. Lately though, the same sources noted that the shell is starting to disappear once more in Barotac Nuevo and Banate, the latter town incidentally, its main haven before in the late '90s when Iloilo had a boom of them.en
