BFAR maintains Q1 fish output estimate despite El Niño
Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has maintained its growth projection in national fish production for the first quarter of the year, noting minimal losses from droughts and dry spells. “We are still projecting a positive growth because the weak El Niño was favorable for the fisheries sector in the sense that there were more fishing days for our fishermen. Besides, the warm temperature did not reach to a level that could kill our fish, even those under the aquaculture farming,” BFAR Director Eduardo Gongona told The Manila Times.
