This city's cleanliness and the Ilonggos' friendliness impressed the thousands of lawyers who attended the 17th National Convention of Lawyers from March 28 to 31 at the Iloilo Convention Center, according to Mayor Jose Espinosa III, himself a lawyer. No less than Supreme Court Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin and three Associate Justices graced the big event. In a welcome dinner that the city mayor hosted for the Justices of Supreme Court and officials of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Espinosa said the Chief Justice and his wife likened Iloilo City to Singapore.
