The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Guimaras, conducted a mangrove planting at Taklong Island National Marine Reserve (TINMAR), specifically along the area of barangay La Paz, Neuva Valencia on March 30, 2019. PSA staffers planted 115 seedlings of bakhaw baye (Rhizophora mucronata) with the assistance of TINMAR personnel. This is the second time that the office conducted a tree planting in the area as part of its social responsibility and in support to the environmental activities of the Provincial Environmental and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Guimaras. Taklong Island National Marine Reserve (TINMAR) was declared a National Marine Reserve by Presidential Proclamation No. 525 issued on February 8, 1990.
