The city government of Manila clarified yesterday reports circulating on social media that it is asking volunteer groups to secure and pay for a permit before they can help clean up Manila Bay. City administrator Erickson Alcovendaz said local and foreign groups have started asking how they can contribute to the cleanup. “We are not asking for any fee. What we are trying to do here is for these interested groups to coordinate with the city hall so that we can arrange the schedule. We cannot just allow groups to go there because it would attract so many people.
