Coastal cleanup in Iloilo City today
Excerpt
Around 1,000 volunteers from non-government organizations, national agencies, public and private schools, City Hall employees, residents, and barangays officials are expected to participate in the city government’s “One Time Big Time” coastal cleanup today. Inspired by the national government’s initiatives in Boracay Island in Aklan and Manila Bay rehabilitation program, the cleanup will target 26 coastal barangays in the metro, stretching from Brgys. Bitoon, Jaro to Santo Niño Sur, Arevalo. According to the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), they are expecting to collect more or less 200 tons of garbage within the two to three hours of cleanup.
