    Excerpt
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional director Drusila Esther E. Bayate is encouraging more canneries to locate in Western Visayas because of the region's abundant marine resources. Bayate echoed what BFAR Director Asis G. Perez said recently that the people should now consider value adding their fish catch so that they could earn more. Asis, who was here March 20 for the lifting of the Visayan Sea Closure, said the Philippines is one of the world's top fishing ground for sardines, mackerel and herrings.
