    Excerpt
The coastal town of Carles, Iloilo, which is known for its shellfishes, is under state of calamity due to red tide which hit four barangays in Gigantes Island recently. The Sangguniang Bayan of Carles will pass a resolution declaring the state of calamity in a special session today, Sept 28, 2017, according to Mayor Sigfred Betita. "We have decided to declare the town in a state of calamity considering that the red tide crippled the livelihood and food security not only of the inhabitants of the island but as well as those in the mainland," Betita stressed.
