    Excerpt
There will hardly be idle time for mothers in this city’s coastal communities these days after they were introduced to producing spicy dilis (anchovy) that sells well to the island’s residents and visitors. These mothers are beneficiaries of Ugmad Komunidad program of the provincial government of Davao del Norte that aims at giving poor residents in the province, especially mothers, the opportunity to earn from their homes. Oliva Matro, chairperson of the Kaugmaran sa Kababainhan sa Sta. Cruz (Kakasa) in Sta. Cruz, Talicud Island, a small island which is part of this city, said beneficiaries were able to change their lives by producing and vending spicy dilis.
