    Excerpt
We would like to correct the misleading and deceptive news report ("Palawan authorities probe into fish kill near mine site," INQUIRER, 11/28/10) written by Redempto Anda. The article makes it appear that a massive fish kill occurred as a result of waste discharges from the operations of the Rio Tuba mine and the Coral Bay nickel processing plant. Please be advised that the alleged fish kill incident was investigated by a Multi-Partite Monitoring Team ("MMT") composed of representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources; the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development; Haribon Palawan; Barangay Rio Tuba; and Rio Tuba Nickel (RTN) and Coral Bay Nickel (CBNC). We summarize below the salient points of the MMT's report dated Nov. 28, 2010.
