    Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office here said a widespread fish kill like what occurred in Batangas and Pangasinan provinces is a remote possibility to happen in Western Visayas. Regional Director Drusila Bayate said that unlike in Luzon where growers, particularly of bangus or milkfish, usually use fish cages, here in Region 6 bangus are grown in fishponds. The BFAR regional director also allayed fears on the possibility that the "double dead" fish from Luzon could reach Western Visayas as prospective market, saying the region has sufficient fish production.
