    Excerpt
"Ecological suitability and social conformity need to be highlighted as basic criteria for the establishment of marine protected areas (MPA)," said SEAFDEC/AQD chief Dan Baliao rationalizing the establishments of MPAs in all coastal municipalities in the country. The rationalization was done during the recent deliberation regarding the proposed House Bill before the members of the House Committee on Aquaculture and Fisheries. Chief Baliao was joined by Dr. Leobert dela Peña and Dr. Edgar Amar at the hearing of the House Bill per invitation of Rep. Luis Ferrer IV, Chairperson of the House Committee on Aquaculture and Fisheries.
