Responding to the call of Mindanaons, SEAFDEC and BFAR will conduct on-site training of freshwater aquaculture on Feb. 25- 28, 2019 on land-locked areas in North Cotabato. Kabacan, North Cotabato is the first on-site training SEAFDEC ( Southeast Asian Fisheries and Development Center and BFAR ( Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Research) will conduct this year as a joint mission aimed to enhance freshwater aquaculture production especially in the rural areas. The inverse relationship between world population and food production is a great challenge and is contributing to the economic and financial uncertainty in the country. Capture fishery production has been relatively static since the late 1980s and are expected to remain fairly stable. This means future increase in world fish supply will be heavily dependent on aquaculture.
