Excerpt
Agriculture and fishery production, which accounts for less than a fifth of the gross domestic product, grew by 0.56 percent in 2018, slower than the 4-percent expansion in 2017, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority show. The PSA said the sector expanded 1.8 percent in the fourth quarter, following a 0.8-percent contraction in the third quarter. The latest figure is expected to lift the gross domestic product growth in the fourth quarter. The PSA revised downward the third-quarter gross domestic product growth to 6 percent from an earlier estimate of 6.1 percent. It will release the fourth-quarter and full-year GDP data Thursday.
