    The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 has embarked on mangrove tree growing as part of the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP). NGP targets to plant 1.5 billion trees across 1.5- million hectares of land area in the country. In Western Visayas, mangrove forests are scattered across 83 coastal municipalities.
