    Excerpt
Save the blue crab industry. This was the appeal of Negros Occ. Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. as he urged the public to save the industry that is giving livelihood to thousands of fishermen in the province. According to a report by the Philippine Information Agency, Marañon said berried crab or “bukakahan” in the local dialect should not be fished until they reach their mature sexuality so they can lay eggs. If caught, these crabs should be returned to the waters.
