All shellfish and alamang from Batan Bay are safe for human consumption, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). The bay and its tributaries (in Altavas, Batan and New Washington) “continue to be free from red tide toxins,” the BFAR said in Shellfish Bulletin No. 03 dated Jan. 17. But the agency warned that several areas in the country have coastal waters still “positive for paralytic shellfish poison beyond the regulatory limit.”en
