    Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has issued warning against consumption of shellfish in toxic red tide-infested bays in several areas in Visayas and Mindanao. “All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. of alamang gathered from the area shown above are not safe for human consumption,” said the BFAR. It said fish, squids, shrimps and crabs are safe for human consumption “provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.”
