The Senate committee on science and technology will start today its hearing on issues surrounding the Philippine Rise amid controversies on the naming of some of its features by Chinese scientists. Invited to the hearing were Filipino scientist and military and government officials. Local scientists are expected to present their research findings and government officials are set to discuss their plans for the Philippine Rise, said panel chair Sen. Paolo Benigno Aquino IV. The hearing will tackle Senate Resolutions No. 594 and 611, filed by Aquino and Sen. Grace Poe, respectively.
