    Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Region 6 has lifted the fishing ban it imposed on the Visayan Sea. The fishing ban started November 15 last year to give fishes in the area the time to breed, grow and replenish their population. BFAR Regional Director Drusila Esther Bayate announced the ban's lifting yesterday. She said the four-month "closed season" ensured the supply of fishes known to inhabit the Visayan Sea is shared by Region 5, 6, and 7. It is one of the biggest fishing grounds in the country. Commercial fishing vessels and marginal fishermen share in its bounties.
