The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-6 called on stakeholders to work together to protect mangroves in the region. The agency celebrates Month of the Ocean 2014 this May with the theme “Mangroves Protect, Protect Mangroves” to promote mangrove protection and conservation. To highlight the role of mangrove in a balanced ecosystem, the DENR cited the country’s experiences with natural calamities with supertyphoon Yolanda as the recent one.
