Marine product exports still reeling from 'Yolanda'
Excerpt
Marine product exports from northern Iloilo remain tepid five months after Typhoon Yolanda despite assurances from the local and national governments that rehabilitation efforts are in effect. The 2014 first quarter report of the Bureau of Customs (BOC-6) regional office showed that exports of assorted frozen marine products from northern Iloilo to Taiwan are way below compared to the same period in 2013. BOC-6 data shows that export value of marine products from Iloilo totaled US$41,198.22 only, which is hardly half of the US$96,829.70 worth of products exported in the first quarter of last year.
