Fish farmers can now get updates on the wholesale and retail prices of milkfish and tilapia for Metro Manila through their mobile phones. Such information can be made available by sending inquiries via text message to SEAFDEC AquacultureDepartment through assigned Access Number: 700AQD (700273). The value-added text service was presented and demonstrated recently at the SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department in Tigbauan, Iloilo, as part of the institution's 31st-anniversary celebration. Information is accessed by keying in INFO followed by easy to remember keywords which include books training, diagnostics, analysis, fry, live feed, and stat. Merely sending these keywords to 700AQD will instantaneously return a list of second level keywords that have to be keyed in so that the desired information can be obtained.
