Scientists from all over the country urged authorities to remove as soon as possible the remaining oil from the sunken tanker Solar I that was carrying bunker fuel for Petron. Dr. Jurgenne Primavera, Pew Fellow and Seafdec senior aquaculturist, said the conference provided a venue where experts in marine biological and physical sciences shared their expertise and insights based on their fields of expertise to help address the oil spill. Primavera said the objective of the conference is to guide ongoing research and coordinate future assessments on the impact of the oil spill so that the available resources and expertise can be maximized.
