This is DOT’s position to the Senate Resolution No. 705 introduced by Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes, a resolution directing the Senate committee on tourism and other appropriate Senate committees to look into, in aid of legislation, the administration’s rehabilitation plan for Boracay, and further, assess the readiness of the DOT, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and other related government agencies in assisting the residents of Boracay, the workers, and the business establishments affected by the six-month closure. There are on-going trainings happening in mainland Panay and Boracay Island to ensure that the tourism manpower in the island is all set for the reopening. | en |
