Government vows stronger crackdown on illegal fishing
Excerpt
Several government agencies have committed to take serious steps against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. The Philippine committee (PhilCom) comprised of the Office of the President, the departments of agriculture, transportation and communications, interior and local government, finance, justice, national defense and foreign affairs, held its first command conference to gather solutions to combat the illegal activities within Philippine waters. The review of the national plan of action comes amid the continued decline in fisheries production.
