    Excerpt
To help the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) conserve ludong or Lobed river mullet during the closed season, 41 newly-trained fisherfolks were deployed under the revitalized Oplan Sagip Ludong project. Max Prudencio, BFAR-Cagayan Valley (Region 2) information officer, explained that fishery regulation under BFAR Administrative Circular (BAC) 247, the closed-season on the catching of Ludong is from October 1 to November 15 annually. Prudencio said the fish is catadromous and makes its annual spawning run in time with the ludong closed season during this period.
