The government in 2012 closed to the public Snake Island, which is found in a cluster of islands around top tourist destination El Nido, Puerto Princesa, Palawan. According to ERDB Director Sofio Quintana PhD, “In order to protect the island and to help in the recovery of the corals in the area, there is a need to delineate areas for fishing and non-fishing.
