DENR to check on Europeans seen in Boracay
Excerpt
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Friday said it would look into a report that 21 European youth delegates to Genfest International in Boracay had been seen swimming in the waters of the world-famous island. “We just learned about this through a news report from GMA 7. We assure you that we will look into this and determine if there’s any breach of the protocol set by the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force,” DENR Undersecretary Benny Antiporda said in a statement. Based on the news report, the Aklan provincial police allowed the European delegates to swim for half an hour in Boracay waters off Station 1 at the request of the festival organizers and after the visitors underwent tight screening.
