TWO groups of small-scale fisherfolks want to be exempted from the ban on destructive fishing methods to help them recover from the effects of super typhoon Yolanda last year. In a letter dated Jan. 8, 2014, the Carlessanon Small & Medium Scale Fishing Boat Operators Association (CSMSBOAI) and Baludeños Small Scale Fishing Boat Operators (BSSFBO) of Balud, Masbate requested Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. to endorse their Letter of Appeal to Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) national director Asis Perez seeking suspension of Fisheries Administrative Order (FAO) No. 246.
