    Excerpt
China called on the Philippines on Friday to meet it halfway on new Chinese fishing rules in the disputed South China Sea, adding that Beijing was always willing to make efforts to resolve such issues through talks. But the Philippines' top diplomat called on the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) to take a united stand against China's provocations in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, warning that Beijing's moves threatened peace and stability in the region.
