    The Philippine Science Journalist Incorporated (Pscijourn) in Metro Manila urged the provincial governments of Guimaras and Iloilo to protect the Guimaras and Iloilo Straits which is considered as one of the largest marines laboratories in Southeast Asia. Angelo palmnones, Pscijourn national president and station manager of DZMM, an ABS-CBN affiliate, said that he learned about the forthcoming anniversary of the controversial Oil Spill in August 11, this year. Currently, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) assists in the management and protection of the marine species in Guimaras strait.
