    Excerpt
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved a resolution asking President Benigno Aquino III to grant fishpond operators in Aklan a five-year recovery period by condoning fishpond rentals. In Resolution No. 010 series of 2014, the SP sought the relief through Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala. The SP clarified, however, that the condonation will be limited to holders of a fishpond lease agreement (FLA) and will not cover private fishpond operations. Super typhoon "Yolanda" damaged 221 fishpond units (2,099 hectares) in the province, affecting 187 fishpond operators, a damage assessment report by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) showed.
